Viña Santa Cruz
A new project

Viña Santa Cruz is a beacon in the Colchagua Valley's wine scene. Brand new, the entire project reflects the owner's years of experience with dedication to the wines from this already successful region of Chile. He has gathered all his knowledge and his taste for fine European wines, and created a project that stands out for its focus on quality rather than quantity, and respect for the land he has grown up in (sustainable farming is used wherever possible).

Philosophy

The winemaker José Luis Sotomayor is young and immersed in learning, tasting, and blending until he feels the wines have reached their utmost potential. The goal here, unlike at some other Chilean wineries, is not to produce volume but rather to produce the best blend (Chamán) each year. This is a unique philosophy because it requires sacrifice in the short term for quality, and reliability of quality in the long term. Viña Santa Cruz uniquely understands this sacrifice, and continues to focus on its almost spiritual connection to the land of the Colchagua Valley, and continues to make a better wine every year, a wine that can compete with any in Chile and the world.

The wines

Eventually 3 lines of wine will be made, but at this time the "Chamán" is the flagship wine. It is a blend of 50% Carmenere, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a small percentage has contact with oak staves.
